A 7.31% positivity of PCR and antigen test is reported, 135 ICU patients and 303 critical beds available

This Tuesday, September 20, the Ministry of Health (Minsal) delivered its daily report on the situation of coronavirus in Chile: 1,353 new cases out of a total of 15,378 PCR tests and antigen tests nationwide. The total figure reaches 4,588,533 with 4,509,153 recovered and 9,774 assets.

In addition, the portfolio reported 0 deaths from Covid-19 on the last day, due to the closure of Civil Registry offices due to a national holiday. The total number of deaths remains at 60,923 since the start of the pandemic.

Likewise, the entire Metropolitan Region is currently in the Low Sanitary Impact stage of the Step by Step plan.

Coronavirus in Chile: The new cases

PCR and antigen positivity was 7.31% nationwide, and reached 6.20% in the Metropolitan Region.

In addition, of the 1,353 new positive cases of covid-19, 240 are symptomatic people, while 34 are asymptomatic. There were also 1,079 positive PCR tests that were not reported.

The regions with the highest positivity in the last 7 days are O’Higgins, La Araucanía, Metropolitana and Ñuble.

Likewise, those with the highest incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants are Ñuble, Biobío, Atacama and Los Ríos.

Coronavirus in Chile: Critical Patients

The report reported 135 people in Intensive Care Units (ICU), of these 83 connected to mechanical ventilation. However, 303 critical beds are available throughout the country for seriously ill patients.

In addition, we have 1,114 beds available, out of a total of 1,776 separated into 30 enabled residences.

At the national level, we have 92.4% of the national population vaccinated with a complete schedule. We are currently in the fourth dose vaccination phase.

The situation is part of the advance of the ómicron variant and its sublineages in national territory.
