A young man of about 25 years is missing after falling into the Salto del Agua in Placilla, in the Valparaíso Region. The Navy confirmed that he is a naval cadet who was making use of his free time.

The Chilean Navy confirmed, through a statement, that the 25-year-old who fell 150 meters into the Salto del Agua in Placilla was a naval cadet.

“The Chilean Navy reports that at approximately 11:00 this Saturday, July 16, two Cadets from the Arturo Prat Naval School, who were making use of their free time, went to carry out trekking activities in the sector of the Salto del Agua de Placilla”, they indicated.

“Both reached the top of the place (Salto del Agua) and one of the Cadets approached the ravine to observe, when he slips and falls,” they added.

Along with this, they indicated that “the other cadet went to notify the Carabineros, and was later treated by SAMU personnel, being diagnosed with hypothermia.”

Likewise, they affirmed that the Institution is supporting with its means the work of the search teams in the place.

As reported by La Radio, Fire personnel are working in the area to find the whereabouts of the young cadet, of whom only part of his clothing has been found.

Police GOPE personnel were also asked to join the search.
