The Center for Advanced Studies in Arid Zones reports details of the passage of a cold high pressure through the Coquimbo Region.
According to the analysis of the CEAZA Meteorological Area, low minimum temperatures and moderate intensity winds are expected in the Coquimbo Region for Wednesday, September 21. The low minimum temperatures would mainly affect the valleys and foothills of the provinces of the Coquimbo Region, while the wind, of moderate intensity, would only affect the coast.
The forecast low minimum temperatures would generate probable frosts in the foothills of the entire region and in the valleys of the province of Choapa.
For its part, the wind of moderate intensity is expected to occur during the afternoon and only along the coast, reaching gusts of up to 50 km/h on the coast of the province of Limarí. Likewise, during the event, the zero isotherm level in the Coquimbo Region would fluctuate between 2,500 and 3,400 m, considered within the normal range for the time of year. Likewise, no precipitation associated with this event is expected.
The phenomenon has its origin in the passage of a high cold pressure and it is recommended to take the pertinent precautions.
