Mobility Pass in Chile: when it is eliminated and on what date the Government set its end

As the health situation has evolved, the Ministry of Health made a number of changes to the Step-by-Step Plan. Minister Ximena Aguilera led the announcement this Wednesday, September 21, at La Moneda.

In addition to the end of the use of the maskthe Government explained that “the mobility pass requirement will be discontinued.” According to government figures, positivity has dropped considerably.

The announcement of the Ministry of Health about the mobility pass?

“Given that a new vaccine is incorporated and that it starts with an annual vaccination schedule (for risk groups)the mobility pass will no longer be necessary, due to the high coverage we have in terms of the population,” said Minister Aguilera. The modification will be implemented from October 1.

Can the mobility pass be requested again?

The Ministry of Health explained that in the future, if the scenario worsens and the mentioned factors change, the mobility pass could be requested again.

“This has been a tool that has allowed us to promote vaccination and now it will no longer be used, but we will have the possibility of requiring it again in the future. if necessary, depending on how the epidemiological situation evolves,” added Aguilera.

The Chamber of Deputies and the mobility pass

Before this measure announced by the Government, the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies had approved a project that requested the Executive to put an end to the requirement of the mobility pass. The idea had 88 votes in favor, 29 against and 20 abstentions. The idea is already a reality.
