What happened?

The Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy (SHOA) ruled out this Friday the possibility of a tsunami off the coast of Chile as a result of the magnitude 4.7 tremor that occurred in the Coquimbo region.

What did SHOA say?

“The characteristics of the earthquake do not meet the necessary conditions to generate a tsunami off the coast of Chile”, indicates the SHOA bulletin.

Where was the epicenter?

The telluric movement, according to the information provided by the National Seismological Center of the University of Chilehad its epicenter 61 kilometers northwest of La Higuera, at a depth of 41.
